Technology is an integral component of today’s education. ASFM provides powerful communications tools and almost universal access to a virtually unlimited supply of information. ASFM maintains the network for academic purposes as well as for school-related and personal communication. Users are responsible to these guidelines and the Acceptable Use Policy as posted on the School’s website. A User’s access to technological tools may be revoked or suspended for violating any of the policies contained in this document including, but not limited to:

Privacy. I will not allow others to know my password. I will not give out personal information when using the Internet. I will respect other person’s documents and only open, modify or delete those that are mine. I will log on to the network using only the account assigned to me.

Security, Overloading, Hacking. I will not try to avoid any network controls or protections.

Piracy/Copyright/Plagiarism. I will respect copyright laws. I will not copy without giving proper credit. I will be sure to write down the source of my information.

Inappropriate Content. I will not bully or send inappropriate material using email or chat.

Damage. I will take good care of the computer equipment (mouse, keyboard, etc.) If I intentionally damage it, I realize that I may have to pay for replacements.

No Expectation of Privacy. I know that all my activity can be monitored. I know that my work and/or photo may occasionally be published on the school website.

Frivolous Use. I will not waste resources such as paper, disk space, printer supplies, etc. I will use the computer and Internet for educational purposes only and with my teacher’s permission.

Internet Access. I will immediately inform my teacher of inappropriate materials I might access while on the Internet.

Technology Agreement/Permission

Please read the guidelines in the Technology section of the student handbook, and ensure that the parent and the student understand the guidelines before completing this form. In order for students to use the internet, parents must give their permission.

I have read and understood the guidelines in the Technology section of the student handbook and hereby give permission for my child to use available technology at the school. I understand that my child will be accountable to the guidelines contained in the Acceptable Use Policy.
